Himalayan Healing River Adventure ~ November 2024

Join me for a Himalayan Healing River Adventure on the Karnali River. The headwaters of the Karnali River originate at Mount Kailash, a sacred Mountain in Tibet- important in both Hindu & Buddhist cultures. We land in Kathmandu and head to Nepal’s most Western region. The Karnali River is the longest in Nepal with solid Class 3-4 whitewater and scenic mellow stretches. The Karnali river has a proposed dam ~ we are excited to raft the river before this remote wilderness area changes.

Dates: October 30-November 12th 2024

This trip will have a cultural and spiritual emphasis. Delving into local cuisine, attending Pujas (ceremonies), hikes from the river up to rural villages, daily meditation and Yoga Asana (physical yoga) and Yoga Nidra on the beach. We will eat out in Kathmandu and the smaller villages. On the river Mani’s Navigate Outdoors team will prepare Nepali cuisine for us such as: rice, lentils, chicken, fish and vegetables. This trip is for the adventurous spirit. We are whitewater rafting, tent camping on the river for 8 nights, staying in clean 3-star hotels throughout Nepal.

This retreat is in partnership with my longtime friend and colleague Mani Aryal. Mani lives in Kathmandu with his family - see their picture below. Mani grew up river guiding in Nepal. We met guiding whitewater trips for NOLS, an organization we have both worked for since 2006. Mani is the owner & operator of Navigate Outdoors. He and his team have guided many river trips on the Karnali. Navigate Outdoors has a river and hiking permit to operate throughout Nepal- we are supporting local families and continuing to build strong local relationships.
